Sudan: Delivering Effective WASH Training

CAWST, the Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology, in collaboration with Integrated Development Center for Training and Capacity Building Sudan will hold a workshop on Delivering Effective Training from March 13th till 17th in Khartoum, Sudan

CAWST is a Canadian International development organization that provides training, education and technical consulting in water, sanitation and hygiene to organizations working with the poor in developing countries.

In this workshop, participants learn to effectively facilitate and adapt lessons on WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene). They discuss what learners need, practice creating a safe learning environment, motivating learners, and ensuring that information is relevant and appropriate. Through lessons and practical experience, participants also learn to formulate effective questions, respond to learners, and manage challenging training situations.

Training Objective

The overall objective of the training is to equip WASH professionals with the knowledge and skills they require to deliver effective WASH training that will result in promotion of good WASH practices and achieve the desired programme result. The following are the specific objectives;

• To gain knowledge on planning, organizing and designing WASH trainings

• To acquire through practice, facilitation and training skills

• To develop action plans as to how they will continue to grow as trainers

Who should participate?

Participants may be individuals or groups who are:

• Training on WASH, as part of a WASH, community development or health project

• Knowledgeable about WASH solutions and good practices, such as household water treatment and safe storage, sanitation and/or hygiene

• People seeking to enhance their facilitation skills

• People who work with others and have to communicate to individuals or groups of people

It is an advantage if participants: have participated in another WASH workshop, and have a good basic knowledge of various aspects of WASH.

Preferably two or three people from each participating organization should attend to ensure they learn together and benefit the most from the workshop. Participation by women is actively encouraged.

Language

The workshop will be conducted in English, a working knowledge of English is required.

Facilitation

The workshop will be facilitated by Paul Earwaker, one of CAWST’s Technical Advisors for Africa. Paul is an experienced CAWST facilitator with over 15 year of experience.

Cost & Registration

The course fee is 5000 SDG or 430 USD which covers tuition, training file and materials, a field visit and certificate of participation. Register early to book your place in the training.
